Green Home Tour – Heat Pumps and Solar Power — Ask the Experts

Jun 22, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join BCAG for an interesting day of learning about new home technology for heating and cooling!

Saturday, June 22, 2024     Starts 10 am.  Visiting Two Sites~

1. Air Source Heat Pump for heating and cooling – – N of Stevensville on the West side

John Anderson, 48 year owner of Anderson’s Heating Air Conditioning & Plumbing of Missoula will speak about air source heat pumps.  We will visit a 3 year old all electric home with a Mitsubishi high end (at that time) heat pump with an electric forced air handler pushing warm or cold air through basement ducts and vents.  The air handler also has electric back up heating for when it is really cold.   We’ll find out how cold that could be.  John will explain how it all works and talk about other brands that are now on the market comparing the benefits to our comfort and budget.  Bring your questions.

We will meet at the house at 10 am.  The address is:  4794 Hoblitt Lane.  There is plenty of space for parking and you may park on the grass to avoid obstructing traffic.

From the south, take Hwy 93 north, turn left on Bass Creek Rd   and then take the first right on Hoblitt Lane.  Go about 1 mile and the house is on the right with 4794 on the mailbox.  (Watch for bobolinks along Hoblitt Lane. )

From the north from Hwy 93 turn right on Larry Creek Loop and then turn left on Hoblitt Lane and the house is a short distance on the left with 4794 on the mailbox.

Funding Incentives:  The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 included new and expanded federal tax credits and up-front rebates for electric appliances, energy efficiency and clean energy. These incentives can be often stacked with existing utility rebate programs and state or private low-interest loan options. Your household’s financial situation (and other factors) will determine which incentives you can use.  Up to 30% tax credits are available now and up-front discounts from 50% to 100% for low-income household’s will likely be available in 2025.   Mt. DEQ is the agency that is facilitating the IRA incentives.  Montana Electric Co-0p and NorthWestern Energy both offer rebates.

2. Solar Power – – N of Stevensville on the East side

Chris Daum, 25 year owner of Oasis Montana – Residential Solar Energy and  Power Systems will tell what is now available.  The systems they offer include residential solar panels on and off grid, wind generators, components for emergency power back-up and off-grid homes, solar water pumping, marine applications, energy storage, and efficient refrigeration.   Bring your questions.

We will gather at Chris’s house at around 12 pm.  The address is:  436 Red Fox Lane.

From Stevensville take the Eastside Hwy north and take a Right on Stevi Airport Rd. then a Left on Badger Lane and a Right on Red Fox Lane.   If needed we can caravan from house #1.
